TensTech Inc. is a research company that focuses on the development of new, innovative chemical and material-based technologies. Our vision is to carry out focused research and development projects based on clearly identified product goals. Projects include technologies that are based on internally identified objectives, that address grant-based objectives, or that are part of joint research and development efforts with partner chemical companies. We work in the expectation that our efforts will have a significant impact on targeted high value applications and specialty chemical markets.

TensTech Services

TensTech is a research and development laboratory that is focused on projects directed at the development or enhancement of chemical and material technologies. We have successfully provided research and development support for advanced material technologies in a number of significant areas through a range of technical relationships including Army SBIR grants, joint university research programs, joint industrial research programs, long-term industrial consulting relationships and internally identified technology development opportunities. We have also provided technology support in the areas of process enhancement and technical patent questions.

Our development and technical capabilities are supported by a range of laboratory capabilities:

  • Chemical synthesis: Glass and stainless steel reactors ranging from 50 mls to 8 kg capacity.  Ability to carry out reactions under pressure and vacuum. Experienced in the synthesis of esters, amides, sulfonates and a wide range of low to intermediate molecular weight polymers.

  • Surface analysis: The ability to measure a wide range of material surface and surface related properties including contact angles, contact angle stability, wicking rates and absorption as a function of time.  In addition, we have access to a wide range of advanced microscopy and instrumental methods for surface analysis.

  • Viscosity and Rheology: A rheometric and related equipment for measuring fluid viscosity over a wide temperature range (-60 to >200ºc).

  • Applications testing: TensTech has access to a wide range of fiber/fabric development and testing capabilities including the extrusion of mono-filament fibers, the weaving of developmental fabric samples and the testing of surface frictional properties under a wide range of conditions.  

  • Custom testing equipment: TensTech has designed and developed specialized laboratory equipment and protocols for both the US Military and industrial customers. These are designed to quantify performance properties under specified end-use or perform conditions.

  • Outside testing support: TensTech has full access to North Carolina State Universities advanced material, fiber/fabric and chemical testing capabilities as well as specialized testing capabilities through a range of industrial and university contacts.
